Common Trouble Code Solutions

This trouble code diagnosis section with keep being further expanded in the following manner.

Phase 1 - On the pop up solutions you will now see mainly the basics.

Phase 2 - I will be combing my shop manual for more detailed and technical information to be included in these potential solutions, especially on the common codes that make us pull our hair out.

Phase 3 - I will present real-life solutions that myself or other readers have experienced. If you have a code that you have solved please let me know and include your code number, solutions, make, model, year, etc.

Here is an example. I got a code 44 on my car.
The basics tell you to replace the O2 sensor and check the wires for this lean exhaust condition. More technical diagnostics suggested muffler plugged, cat plugged, air diverter valve and other fairly remote and complex possibilities. My real world solution was I finally found that the intake bolts on the top of my manifold were extremely loose. It sometimes takes a combination of all three venues to solve these problems.
